How To Delete 7-Zip Extraction / Folder History

1. Open the Registry Editor (Start -> regedit.exe) and find the following key:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-Zip\Extraction
2. Delete the entry "PathHistory".

You'll need to be logged in as a Administrator to make registry changes. As always, consider backing up the registry before making any changes.

For the benefit of future Googlers: On Windows 7 64-bit the registry key is slightly different. Look for the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-Zip\FM\ and delete the binary entry "CopyHistory".

On Windows 7 64-bit, to erase the history of 7zip when used through the contextual menu, look for the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\7-Zip\Extraction\PathHistory
Double-click on PathHistory, select and highlight all datas in the right part of the window, suppress it, that will leave only the value "0000" in the top of the wondow. Click "OK". Done.
